got a couple of queries about orcs and goblins.

1. animosity.
Saul has told me that squig hoppers dont suffer from animosity, im assuming this is because they are immune to psycology and actually only move in the movement phases, but savage orcs are because they are only frenzied.
However if savage orcs do squabble, i guess that means they cannot charge, even if in range as animosity over rules frenzy.
Im ok with that, i just wanted to make sure this is everyone elses view.

2. Orc Choppa's
I showed this to lee at the weekend, i remember a conversation that choppa's dont count as a hand weapon when combined with a sheild, but in the army book it states they count as a hand weapon in every other aspect bar the +1 st on the charge (when on foot!) so to me this means they should get the +1 save for hand weapon sheild combo.

3. Frenzy and the Banner of Butchery

Frenzied units dont declare charges. they just check their range and if in, must charge.
If a frenzied unit has the +d6 charge (one use) when do i declare i want to use it, do i do it before measuring range,
or do i see if im in range to auto charge then decide to use the banner?
Also is this the only time a frenzied unit can fail a charge.
When i played lee against empire i stated i was going to use the banner, but then my first unit charged he wrapped around and if i hadnt have said i was using the banner i would have been in range. Is this a one of where im just unlucky and shouldnt have called it.

4. War machines scattering onto combat.

basically i cant find the rules on this, does it just affect the unit it hits (in the case of the doom diver esp which is d6 s5 to the unit it hits.)
or is it randomised between the units in combat.

Yeah that's how i have been playing it, basically if your going to use it you have to declare the charge otherwise you cant opt to use it.
Im actually using it on my boar boys as it will allow me to outcharge chaos warriors etc.

Saul has told me that squig hoppers dont suffer from animosity, im assuming this is because they are immune to psycology and actually only move in the movement phases, but savage orcs are because they are only frenzied.
However if savage orcs do squabble, i guess that means they cannot charge, even if in range as animosity over rules frenzy.
Im ok with that, i just wanted to make sure this is everyone elses view.

If they're enough of the things then yes they still suffer from animosity? Why would you think they don't? (happy to be proved wrong because them getting an extra d6 from waaaghing's more likely to upset my plans than them not moving!)

2. Orc Choppa's
I showed this to lee at the weekend, i remember a conversation that choppa's dont count as a hand weapon when combined with a sheild, but in the army book it states they count as a hand weapon in every other aspect bar the +1 st on the charge (when on foot!) so to me this means they should get the +1 save for hand weapon sheild combo.

Choppa's count as hand weapons for the shield bonus.

3. Frenzy and the Banner of Butchery

Frenzied units dont declare charges. they just check their range and if in, must charge.
If a frenzied unit has the +d6 charge (one use) when do i declare i want to use it, do i do it before measuring range,
or do i see if im in range to auto charge then decide to use the banner?
Also is this the only time a frenzied unit can fail a charge.
When i played lee against empire i stated i was going to use the banner, but then my first unit charged he wrapped around and if i hadnt have said i was using the banner i would have been in range. Is this a one of where im just unlucky and shouldnt have called it.

I have no idea what your talking about here, how could you have been out of range with the banner but in range without it?!?!
Anyway, yes with frenzied units that get a single extra charge bonus, if you want to use it then you declare a charge with the unit like normal. If you wait until after charges are declared and measure and your out of range you cannot then say you want to use the banner.

4. War machines scattering onto combat.

basically i cant find the rules on this, does it just affect the unit it hits (in the case of the doom diver esp which is d6 s5 to the unit it hits.)
or is it randomised between the units in combat.

Used to be randomised, now it seems it just hits what it hits.

See back in the game, with a new style army and loads of new rules queries coming out of the woodwork.

Hmmm... I just thought they didn't have Animosity listed in their special rules to be honest - I was clearly wrong: nothing has it in their rules, there is a list of things that don't have to test and Squigs are not on it!

Empire detachments, my normal orks charged the main unit knowing the detachment would wrap round so i declared a charge with my boar boyz as a second charge.
Actually i think we did it wrong, i declared the charge order correct and then rolled for the banner, found out i was out of range.
Then i moved the orcs in and the detachment wrapped round, then i should have done the boar boyz move and of course would have been in with or without the banner (which i rolled a 1 for!) so either way i did myself out of a charge!
Luckily i smashed him in combat anyway, but thats not the point.

yeah luckily saul i think its anymosity all the way of squigs, till there are less than 5 models that is.

Thanks chaps, luckily i havent played the rules wrong, just forget to use them at the right time and only to my disadvantage.
