Ok so I took my beastmen, bizzarely although we played at 750, 1250, 1750, 2250 and 2999 in an escalation format. You could add things to your existing characters and units and the only list that was comped was the 2999 point force (and that comp was a little strange too)

Anyway,

First game I played a warriors of chaos army. Not a great list at that point as he'd focused on infantry so my mino/centigor and chariot list got some multiple charges off and destroyed them. The biggest issue was then my inability to catch the sorcerer on his steed of slaanesh and the fact he'd got the panic spell. I spread out enough and had some minos that were now frenzied after winning a combat so were immune. Win

Second game was at 1250 and I was against VC, was a bit worried as although I got first turn he had ghoulkin and moved his 4 ghoul units forward. To me that generally means that the level one vampire in one of those units has fly or the talisman and was looking for some first turn charges. I played like he did - became clear that he didn't. In my first turn I took 3 wounds off his vargulf with the hunters spear - that basically meant he had to be more aggressive with it and although I failed some fear checks to charge and my wargor fled off the board I got in with the razorgor and some overruns into existing combats meant I took out his black knights, the vargulf and 3 of the ghoul units including the vamp general and then watched him crumble for the last couple of turns. Win

Third game at 1750

Played some wood elves. Got shot to crap in the first few turns, failed some fear checks to charge. Eventually get there, ghorros does pretty well killing dryads followed up into some waywatchers (10!) with waywatcher hero. Anyway, I win the combat by 4 and sadly he holds then ghorros unit dies next turn Gorebull gets into some archers and takes 3 rounds to kill then - that does mean that atleast I got 3 extra attacks, meaning when I charged the treekin (and the two chariots failed their fear checks to join in - notice a theme here? lol) I had enough attacks (with the impact hits too) to break them getting me the draw. Would have had the win if the waywatchers had broken but hey. Draw.

Ok so here's when I can potentially get into trouble, big flying things are not my friends. However I get to play against some high elves. Alith anar and 3 Lv 2's with banner of sorcery and both bound items. 2 RBT, big unit of white lions, lion chariot, swordmaster unit archers etc.

On the left I eventually got some chariots and razorgor into the swordmasters. Unit of minos and gorebull did some huge damage to the white lions on the charge, stubborn ItP holds but only about 6 left. His shooting and magic hasn't managed to do much and eventually I got to his archer hill and took it out. However alith anar had decided that his bolt thrower was crap but even with only S4 he could bitch slap my army about in combat. killed my ghorros centigor unit and then flanked the mino unit stuck on the few remaining white lions, in combat with my 0+ armour save gorebull so he did no wounds, 6 white lions do 5 I do 4 back so need mino hero to do 1 wound to draw do 3 wounds to alith anar then he ward saves them all, i lose by 1 and fail the reroll 7 break check. Thankfully however I've done enough damage everywhere else and get a win by about 500vps. Win

Ok so 2999 and I get challanged by Steve from the warhamsters with his star dragon....crap.
However I now have my own secret weapon - the jabberscythe!!! er.........hang on......crap.

He gets first turn and bombs it down my flank. I reverse the minos behind some trees and set the rest up so for flee and flank. He doesn't go in with the dragon (flies behind the minos) but charges a chariot with noble with star lance on an eagle, I flee (through a wood and die) but he lands right next to my wargor chariot who I then charge in, he holds. Impact hit does 2 wounds to the bird, his asf hero fails to wound my T5 wargor, boar and bestigor fail to do the last wound to the eagle however. I decide I need to make sure the eagle dies so when he flees I catch him. Kill the thing. Win by 4 (flank, outnumber, 3 wounds to his BSB), sadly he holds. Now I'm getting a dragon in the flank...

Gorebull leaves the minos and hides in some ranked ungor, so the dragon cant charge him. Dragon goes into wargor chariot, the lord fails to kill the wargor so the dragon decides to kill him rather than the chariot. Sadly the boar and bestigor fail to do any wounds to the BSB (hoping to get half points at least). Steve makes a mistake at this point though and used his ground movement to pursue the chariot into a wood. He gets stuck there fro the rest of the game though.

Ok so on the right flank some silver helms start going on a rampage, kill a few off and we're down to ghorros in a challange against the champ and another guy. Get primal fury for the rerolls and do 4 wounds (which'll do d3 wounds each for combat res so feel reasonably safe) however he passes all 4 4+ saves and I die but I do atleast take care of the eagle and lion chariot over here with some razorgor and another chariot.

However in the centre is where things are going a bit better for me and against all odds it's the jabberscythe who's doing the business! Gets into a bolt thrower and from there the flank of a seaguard unit and then into another bolt thrower

Minos on the left definitely killed something....maybe some swordsmasters I think, yeah that sounds right

Spawn hold dragon princes up for a turn allowing some razorgor flank charge and mino + gorebull frontal charge action.

Again get a win by about 450-500 points! Exceptionally pleased with that one against star dragon nastiness

Ok so last game and I'm 4 wins and a draw - My dad is also on 4 winds (and a loss).
So we're playing each other for the tournament win . However before I knew I was going to this tournament I helped my dad create a quite frankly disgusting daemon list. So level 3 horror block and tz herald (max magic level was 5), Thirster with all the usual, khorne herald, jugger, BSB, flaming, armour, sundering in bloodcrushers, flesh hounds, big bloodletter block, siren song slaanesh herald in stubborn daemonette unit, 6 flamers pyro, etc etc etc.

So he goes first, moves up, fries a chariot with magic on the right.
He's moved too far with his mounted daemonettes, jabber charges them , fails to hit.....dies as he flees into a wood. not a good start. They pursue into some razorgor. I throw a hunters spear at the thirster, hit wound, fail ward, just do one though, still obv means he knows he can't sit there safetly. He charges a chariot, fails terror and flees but gets away. Flamers shoot at some centigor, moved and long range with my T4 4+ save mean I only lose 2.

I declare some charges, fail all the fear checks so get a bit stuck on the left so my gorebull leaves the minos to go after the flamers. He's moved his horrors up to magic me but thanks to terrain (which luckily for me has forced him to split his army due to a large ruin in the middle), his fleshounds wouldn't be able to fit through the gap - allowing my mino unit to move very aggressively forwards towards the horrors.

Chariot rallies to get charged by the thirster again (dies obv), flamers shoot at the gorebull and sneak a wound through the 1+ armour but no biggie. horrors try and fry the minos I scroll bolt, dispel a single dice flickering fire and decide its worth using my last scroll to dispel the other flickering fire. I now have a full mino unit with add h w and gorebull to charge the horrors. I block the countercharge of the bloodcrushers with some raiders and after the dust settles the herald and half the unit is dead. meaning he now only has a maggic missile and he's in combat. phew.

My dads in a bit of trouble now and takes quite a long time (20+minutes!) deciding his next moves, eventually decides not to charge the raiders etc. but my minos take the horror unit down to one model left.

Razorgor get siren songed into daemonettes, they kill one my other does 4 wounds to the herald, awesome.....who passes all for ward saves.....dang! However A unit of centigor and the gorebull charge the flamers, which went well, minos and an ungor unit charge the bloodletters, get them below half. Other minos finish off the horror and we have ourselves another minor win as we've ran out of time

5 wins and a draw with the beasts (including one against star dragon and one against a thirster) and I took first place

Dad still came third too which he was pretty pleased with. All in all a rather successful weekend

The comp was really weird. You could take whatever you wanted. However there were 20 points available for your army selection (and a win was only worth ten so it was pretty important to get them).

General comp rules were things like FC gives you a point, FC on a cav unit gives you two, a BSB gives you one etc etc.

Army specific restrictions were quite strange. Every army had a maximum magic level per army before you started minusing comp points. But for some reason some armies (like my beasts) were only allowed 4, others (like daemons) were allowed 5 and others (dark elves and high elves) were allowed 6?! Also bound items and things which generated dice were irrelevant.

My beasts got extra points for taking, razorgor (1 per unit), spawn (1 per) and ranked ungor (1 per). Also got points for US20+ units. I could get +8 points for not taking any magic at all (no thanks).

Daemons got +8 for not taking more than one of any unit (so as he did this my dads army got to the +20 very easily, even though it was full of pretty nasty stuff.
I really struggled to get there but just about managed it. (took two blocks of 20 ungor which were worth 4 comp points each, 1 for ungor, one for FC, 2 for US20)

The most bizzare thing about the comp was that it was only the 2999 point list which was comped, so for example my dads max comp 750 point list was
