ok so i took the following list to a very heavily comped tempest rising tournament this weekend
Archmage - lvl3, annulian crystal, scroll
Noble - GW, Dragon Armour, Shield, BSB, Reaver bow

Game 1 vs Tris Buckroyd (46) Wood Elves
he had 2 units lvl 4 2 altars, glade guard, scouts, 5 units 8 dryads, treeman, wardancers, waywatchers
i won the shooting war early, my shooting dealing with the waywatchers and glade guard while the chariots took off the scouts. was sitting comfortably nibbling away here at there, had lost both chariots a unit of princes and a bolthrower but not much else. wizard got the altar reaver bow the other. so with tris needing to push the game last turn he charged two units of drayds both in the front of my swordmasters. i fluffed my first round of combat won by one an they both held, fluffed my second round (i killed 3 dryads with 26 attacks) lost by one and ran away. so with the 450pt swing last turn (255 swordmasters, 100 for banner, an minus 100 for lost board quarter) gave tris a draw.
Game 2 vs Marc Williams (66) with daemons
he had khorne herald on jugger, khorne herald, tz herald, nurgle herald, 2 unit of hounds, big nurgle, horror and letter blocks plus 4 flamers.
i poured all my shooting into the hounds and the horror blocks. charged my swordmasters into the front of the horror block an moved the white lions up to flank them next turn while using the eagle to divert off the letter block on that side. he got rid of the eagle with the herald and moved the letteres so they could rear charge the whitelions if they went into the horrors. i did it anyway confident i could grind. which is what happened, he rear charged, i popped my talisman, whiped out the horrors and a load of letters and won. Large win to me
Game 3 vs Andy Parker (35) with dark elves
he had lvl 4 noble an assasin all in black guard block, 2 throwers, shades dark riders couple of spear men blocks, 2 chariots.
fired everything at the chariots to get rid of them early, eagle and chariot killed both bolt throwers. and then i turned my shooting on the black guard as well as a flames of the phoenix which eventually got me all but one black guard the assasin and the noble. princes dealt with the other big spearmen block and at the end of the game i had only lost 500pts. Large win to me
Game 4 vs Stephen Bell (13) with daemons
he had khorne herald on jugger, tz herald, nurgle herald, unit of hounds, big nurgle, horror and letter blocks plus units of screamers and crushers.
my eagle and a unit of princes kept the flesh hounds out of the game, my chariots killed the crushers and i shot the screamers down. swordmasters dealt with the horrors again while i picked apart the letter block with shooting. lost my spearmen but little else and ended the game with a large win to me.
Game 5 vs Ben Curry (5) wood elves
ben had lvl 4, bsb, 3 units glade guard, 2 units wardancers, 3 units of 8 dryads 2 units wildriders, tree.
all was going really well, turn 3 i had got rid of both units wildriders one unit of drayds and had put 5 wounds on the tree. both units of princes were down to 3 and fighting the last remaining two units of 5 dryads. then ben had a really good turn. i failed to kill any dryads and fluffed all my saves leaving the princes dead. he also threw 5 dice at move the treeman i rolled a double one to dispel an he rolled a 12 to move needing an 11 to charge my archmage in the white lions. they failed to take his last wound, he ate the mage, and the lions failed their stubborn check tree overran 11 which got him just into the thrower behind. gutted. that was pretty much the game over. minor loss.
game 6 vs Tom Hale (10) with darkelves
tom had he had lord, lvl 2 an assasin, 2 throwers, shades dark riders couple of big spearmen blocks, 2 chariots unit of cold ones.
Toms bolthrowers and assasin won him the game. bolthrowers killed 7 princes in one round of shooting (all that was left at that point) and the wiped out 8 swordmasters in another round. assasin meanwhile dealt with the white lions (who once again failed their stubborn 8 check) i managed to get the chariots lord an few other things with my lions before they died, the shooting and a comet before last turn the boltthrowers randomised 2 hits onto the bsb in the swordmasters and killed him dead. ment tom just snuck the win. minor loss.
so overall i finished 23rd of 76. and only 70 tournament points (140vps) behind keith wilkinson for best high elf general. good tournament and pleased with the performance and result.
