that came to 1735pts and i think that it covers a few bases, wanted hummels because they are so devastating with 150mm guns. jagdpanzers beacause they are different, loving the anti tank guns though, think they are awesome.

any pointers then, where you think i should possibly change or refine the list?

I think you'll need some cheap smoke in there, so maybe drop the HQ mortars for an 8cm mortar section or a section of Nebelwerfers if you can find the points. They drop a double-width artillery and don't suffer penalties from ranging in on the 2nd and 3rd attempt and seem a popular German choice. Jimmy uses them.

I'd check again and make sure you can take the Hummels, Fortress Europe doesn't allow Fallschirmjagers to take them.

Other than that I'm not sure. I'd prefer the tank-hunters to be at least 3 vehicles but I don't know where you'd get the points.

I'm still not entirely sure what you'd do with the HQ mortars, but I imagine there's a few tricks you can pull:

1. Attach them out to each infantry platoon, effectively giving them a light mortar team. Ups team count (sort of), adds some more fire in defence.

2. Attach all 3 to a defensive infantry platoon, giving you an integrated mortar section capable of firing an HE bombardment or 2 templates of smoke and using any member of that platoon to spot for you.

3. Attach the 2iC and have a 1 section mortar platoon but without a spotter, using the 2iC to do it for you. This relies on you having a good place to set them up in your deployment zone.

Having said that if you have points spare after another jagdpanzer you could do worse than to invest in a proper mortar platoon with a spotter for only a few points more than the HQ bods. That way you have 7 platoons and you could form a small Kampfgruppe to get 8 which is useful in many defensive battles.

You definitely need some smoke generators in there, attacking with infantry without smoke is v. difficult and you can use it to make stuff move to fire or obscure observers.

88s can be devestating but have to be dug in and. sited with extreme care in order to be concealed at all times. A pair of ROF3 88s at long range puts the fear into trained medium tanks. 4+ to hit and auto damage vs. 6s to hit in return is not a good trade.

However Air causes them problems and artillery can as well. Most players will smoke them too, but if they're denying a route of advance or causing your opponent to dedicate a large amount of points to them then they're being useful.

Tbh, its probably worth proxying a few things first. The core of the company is pretty standard, you can't go wrong with 3 FJ infantry platoons (1 can be made into engineers if needed) and things like mortars and AT guns are always useful. The jagdpanzers are a good investment too, so you're left with the borderline things like 88s and arty that can be proxied for a few games before taking the plunge and buying them.

I don't think you can go wrong with Jagdpanzer IVs, they have the same stats as StuGs (with the added bonus of a different model for coolness) and StuGs are common as hell on the LW battlefield for a good reason: Assault guns make good tank-hunters for infantry companies.

No idea on the radio tanks, unless you mean the remote controlled Borgward unit? A bit of a niche unit there tbh, I'd definitely proxy that one before buying anything. I agree with Ade, if you are going to invest then buy the rock solid choices first and proxy the variables.

Artillery is definitely one of those things that need testing in order to get the right option as there's so much about. I can lend you various mortar proxies to try as I have both 8.2cm and the heavier 12cm Soviet models and a few bits of British arty too.
