so just had a well deserved lie in, booked today off everything to recover a bit and do some uni work, GT was awesome, was great to see people again.

i had 5 great games and 1 boring one but tau are a challenging army but certainly my 6 opponents were in agreement that no one should under-estimate tau shooting or bobsight's combat ability with the council.

so my list was

bobsight
4 bodyguards - all plasma, missile bs4, 1 had failsafe, 1 had hit and run, 1 naked and 1 with target lock. 8 shield drones
2 suits - plasma, missile, 2 shield drones
2 suits - twin missile, 1 had flamer, teamleader had positional relay, 2 shield drones
2 broadsides, 2 shield drones
3 lots of 6 fire warriors, 1 had a warfish
6 pathfinders with war fish
1 suit that deep strikes with twin fusion bs4

so 1st game was against BJ Mason and his space wolves. i hadn't played space wolves before and BJ was a top opponent, mission was 5 loot counters, dawn of war his list was

thunder lord
3 x 6 long fangs with 15 missile launchers
10 wolf guard
2 x 7 grey hunters
5 grey hunters
rune priest
4 rhinos
2 lone wolves

i get to go 1st and blow up a rhino but not much else cause its not on the board, i do a bit of moving to get into position to shoot turn 2.
BJ brings everything on and living lightnings my 1st fish, doing nothing and 2 cyclone shots bounce off it too thanks to disruption pod.

so turn 2 and i blow up 2 more rhinos and 4 long fangs out of a squad that has really good LOS of the board but they pass LD check, i kill a few grey hunters too.
BJ charges his thunderwolf lord into the council cause i deploy a but too close but we draw combat and the council hit and runs 10" away allowing me to grab a great position to shoot turn 3.

turn 3's shooting doesn't go great i fish of fury the 5 grey hunters with rune priest leaving only the priest left on one wound, kill a but 1 wolf guard and maul the grey hunter unit in combat leaving 2 left, can't get rid of the thunder lord though as fire warriors try to shoot him.
BJ then wins combat next round but failsafe kills 5 grey hunters on the way out and they can't follow me so the council escapes but gets herded off turn 5.

turn 4 and they get to shoot but it doesn't do much as BJ ends up with a unit of 2 and a unit of 4 grey hunters that i can't get rid off as my shooting starts to miss
BJ JAWS the broadsides which i could do nothing about and they fail a LD check running off the board after rolling a 9.

it ends turn 5 with BJ winning 3-1, top game and at least then i knew what space wolves would be like if i played them again later on.

game 2 was bore draw, pitched battle, aganst chaos [Craig Green i think]his list was

warp time nurgle winged daemon parince
3 x bezerkers in rhinos
land raider
terminators with lord
3 oblits
5 man chaos squad

i get 1st turn and blow up the land raider, a rhino and immobilize another, there is another rhino on the opposiet flank that i don't mind yet. i kill 2 out of the 3 oblits too.
His turn 1 saw the other rhino rush 12 down the line to try and reach my flag turn 2 a bit of shooting but nothing big i don't loose anything.

My 2 and i smoke the other rhino with railguns, kill the terminators apart from the lord left on 1 wound, i kill about 7 bezerkers aswell.
Craig's 2 and he charges the lord and the daemon prince into my council, daemon prince kills 1 drone, and the lord kills 2 drones, farsight kills the lord and the council does 3 wounds to the prince who passes his fearless save but i hit and run to a position in between it and the unit of bezerkers on my flank.

My 3 and the council wastes the prince and bezerkers by shooting then charging the bzerkers, the rest of my army is trying frantically to kill the other bezerkers by dual fish of fury and 4 more suits, i leave the other oblit cause he isn't coming out of cover and isn't doing anything to effect the objectives as he is nowhere near either of them.
Craig's 3 and his 5 man squad still doesn't arrive but he kills a unit of fire warriors and a fish with bezerkers for the loss of 4 due to flechette dischargers from the 2 warfishes.

My 4 and i go after the remaining bezerkers again leaving 1 man with a fist left. 1 oblit in cover too that still isn't moving.
his 4 and the 5 man squad turns up on his flag, another fish dies but the fire warriors are ok for now

my 5 and i kill everything but 1 chaos marine and 1 oblit.

game ends so annoyingly after doing everything right and nailing his army the 1 chaos marine holds the flag and its a draw

game 3 was the boring one, i just lost interest after turn 2 but i lost 6-4 kill points table quarters to marines, the guy passed 30 cover saves for vehicles [i shit you not] and then i was a bit tired too.

game 4 and carlsberg beat Bob after 9 turns of drinks. and our team won free drinks for having the best quiz team name 'HICKORY SMOKED BUTTHOLES [IN A CUP]'

so its 2 losses and a draw going into day 2 but it brings with it some pain on behalf of tau shooting. i'll post it up tommorrow when i have a bit more time, maybe tonight, but it includes tabling marines 45mins and beating leafblower guard 12-0 on kill points.

so after the saturday and me and gary were drinking from 11am to end up pretty monged the next day but i was pretty sure i would do alright the next 3 days after a poor 1st day.

so i played a top bloke with space marines he had

shrike
chaplain jump pack
10 assault marines
2 x 5 marines in twin las razorbacks
devs with 4 missiles
8 thunderhammer/ ss termies
land raider crusader with mm
dred in a pod

mission was bore draw pitched battle.

he goes first and rolls a 1 for his infiltrating shirke assault council which means he can't charge. lands his dred which misses with its melta at my fish.

so i then proceed to batter the dred with railguns, and the shrike chaplain assault unit with bobsight leading the way, i kill 8 then charge the rest and kill them. and i kill 1 razorback and immobilize the other with missile pods.

turn 2 and the land raider and devs turn up from reserve [no idea why they were in reserve but there we go] and they kill a few drones with shooting and make a fish not shoot. nothing much else for them to do.

my 2 and i immobilize the raider, kill the other razorback and the guys inside, and maul the devs and they fail LD check and run off.

his 3 and the terminators kill my fusion suit for immobilizing their raider, thats it.

my 3 and i shoot and kill all the terminators with my suits and kill the other 5 man squad with 2 other suits and fish of fury. raider dead from broadsides and that was it

2-0 in 45mins after everything was dead.

game 5 was space wolves again and again it was 5 loot counters but table quarters this time. he had

thunder lord with 2 small wolves
4 thunderwolves
2 x 10 grey hunters in rhino
1 x 9 grey hunters in rhino
rune priest
2 x 6 long fangs [ 8 missile launchers, 2 lascannon ]
wolf scouts

i go 1st and kill 1 thunderwolf, 2 rhinos and 1 long fang

he then moves a bit but his shooting does nothing

my 2 and i wound all the thunderwolves and kill both little wolves, another 3 long fangs and immobilize the other rhino with a couple of grey hunters.

his 2 and not a lot happens, shakes a fish.

my 3 and do a lot of damage to the thunderwolf unit. I reduce a hunter unit to 4 and blow up the other rhino with 3 guys dying too. i allow the thunderwolves to get into range to prep for hit and run.

his 3 and what i had done his offer him the chance to take out 2 units at once by baiting with my 2 man fireknife team blocking off the open route to the council, the thunder lord went off on his own with 2 wounds left to charge bobsight's council whilst the other 2 thunderwolves charged the other team killing them but i beat the thunder lord with council and was then free to shoot

so my 4 and i nuke the thunderwolves and a long fang unit, and half a grey hunter unit with priest. i put my 3 fire warrior units onto 2 objectives which are very secure.

his 4 and his wolf scouts turn up but the miss the fish with melta so have to charge it and 3 die from flechette discharger, his long fangs blow up my other fish but the warriors are fine.

so my 5 and the 6 fire warriors near the wolf scouts open up to reduce them to 1 but they pass there LD check so its still 2-0 to me, my council rapid fires the piss out of a grey hunter unit and kills all 10. other missile suits kill the rest of the 2 long fangs that were being a pain in the ass.

his 5 and the lone wolf scout blows up the fish after passing his 4+ sv, his rune priest hurricaines my council but it doesn't do much cause they are sat on an obj looking cosy in the middle of the board. i loose 2 fire warriors off 1 obj but the others are fine

my 6 and i waste the rune priests unit and him with shooting, turn round and kill 1 more from another unit so its 2-1 to me.

the real clincher was my rapid firing fire warriors not killing the 1 wolf scout.

his 6 and the wolf scout does 1 wound to my fire warriors in combat, and do 3 wounds and he passes all 3 saves and the warriors run off making it 1-1 and the game ended turn 6.

top game and my opponent was top, he couldn't believe how much shooting a tau army could pack but more is yet to come as we go into game 6 and im up for giving someone a good shooting.

its kill points dawn of war and i'm playing roy who was one of the better people to play who had leafblower guard his list was

3 vendettas with door gunners
3 chimeras
company command
2 psyker squads
3 vet units
hydras
manticore
collosus
think that was it?

he gets 1st turn and puts everything to turn up turn 1, so i put everything in proper reserve apart from 1 unit of suits which has positional relay, roy looks a bit baffled so he brings everything on and then in my turn 1 i bring on my 1 unit of suits behind impassible LOS blocking terrain.

his 2 and he kills both drones with 1 detta and the collosus but doesn't shoot the manticore as to not waste rockets. bad move because for those that don't know what positional relay does it allows me to bring one reserve choice on the board on a 2+ and hold everything else back.

so my turn 2 and i deep stirke my council behind his line in his deployment zone. i then go on to split fire blowing up a vendetta, a chimera, 1 of the pair of hydras, and immobilizing another vendetta [2-0 to me] kill 4 psykers with explosion. i also stun the collosus and the other unit of suits on the other side of the board stun the 3rd detta and go back to hide.

his turn 3 and he shoots everything he can at the council but not doing to much.

my turn 3 and i use relay again to bring my pair of broadsides on a 2+. they walk on and blow up a vendetta and another chimera [4-0] the hiding unit of suits stun the hydra, whilst the council goes mad, blowing up another chimera, the last vendetta and stunning the manticore from shooting [6-0] then charging the company command, psyker squad and collosus killing them all [9-0]

roy's 4 and its bad, real bad. he just keeps shooting the council and kils 1 suit and leaves me with the other 4 suits wounded and 4 drones left but still storng.

my 4 and i use relay again to bring on my fireknife suit team. i kill a veteran squad with shooting and bobsight walks over to the manticore and cleaves it in half [11-0]

i take some more shooting in roy's turn 5 but the council isn't going anywhere.

so i bring everything on to finish things well and truely but the other veterans pass some cover and they pass their LD checks.

we get a turn 6 and the council takes even more shooting but is still ok cause my drones love it.

i blow up the other hydra to make it 12-0 to me

we have a turn 7 but nothing much happens and that was that.

so 2 of each for bobsight, very nasty suprise for some who couldn't handle that volume of shooting.
