I happen to have in my collection a desert themed Imperial Guard Cadian army that I'll be painting up, I started it on a whim after watching Starship troopers a few years ago and it's been sitting in a drawer pretty much ever since.

- I think the psyker squad might be a bit vulnerable? I'd up them to 10 and/or put them in a chimera.
- Where are the rough riders?
- Not sure standards are worth it, but I guess you're just being WYSIWYG?

I think you have put too much wargear on your command squads.

-Command squad: drop the medic, 70 points for some orders is ok.
-Platoon command squad: drop the medic, banner and commissar. That squad should either hiding or suiciding with meltas. In combat they will be smushed. Take either some meltas, or an autocannon.
-Take all the voxes off the infantry squads bar 1. They cannot recieve orders inside tanks, and if you do blob them together they only need 1 vox. Add a commissar with power weapon, 1 melta bomb + 2 more power weapons to sergeants so you have some options if you want to blob it. Drop the lascannon squad, and take 4 lascannons in the squads (its cheaper and more survivable).
-Try and swap the mortars for autocannons, again just better all round.
-I wouldn't take lascannons and hunter killers on sentinels, the firepower is really meh. I like them though and they can do an important role but need the right equipment. Give them camo cloaks + autocannons, a threat with 6 str 7 shots but also a really annoying unit to take out in combat + shooting.
-Split the 10 stormtroopers into 5 stormtroopers with 2 meltas x2. I'd buy them chimeras.

It's not going to win tournaments but it should play ok and be fun to use .

I thought I was 15pts under 1500, and I left out the rough riders a I didn't have room, besides I don't like the models that much, I should be able to make a few more out of bits to bring them up to a full squad in case I need them ( for those that don't know their Cadians on motor bikes)

I just made the list out of what models I already had and based it fluff wise on Cadian Platoon organisation, so it's all pretty ordinary.

-Command squad: drop the medic, 70 points for some orders is ok.
-Platoon command squad: drop the medic, banner and commissar. That squad should either hiding or suiciding with meltas. In combat they will be smushed. Take either some meltas, or an autocannon.
-Take all the voxes off the infantry squads bar 1. They cannot recieve orders inside tanks, and if you do blob them together they only need 1 vox. Add a commissar with power weapon, 1 melta bomb + 2 more power weapons to sergeants so you have some options if you want to blob it. Drop the lascannon squad, and take 4 lascannons in the squads (its cheaper and more survivable).
-Try and swap the mortars for autocannons, again just better all round.
-I wouldn't take lascannons and hunter killers on sentinels, the firepower is really meh. I like them though and they can do an important role but need the right equipment. Give them camo cloaks + autocannons, a threat with 6 str 7 shots but also a really annoying unit to take out in combat + shooting.
-Split the 10 stormtroopers into 5 stormtroopers with 2 meltas x2. I'd buy them chimeras.

It's not going to win tournaments but it should play ok and be fun to use .

I've magnetised the weapons on the sentinels so that's no problem, what kind of strategy would you do for them?

Thought I'd resurrect this a bit to keep Phil happy.

Any more ideas for the list above and whats already been commented?
