So realistically, squadrons suck up a lot of points and duplicate units get expensive fast. Therefore, no typhoon spam like I am used too. Also, dedicated transports get hit hard, so with that being said, I am expecting to see a lot of infantry based armies floating around at the event (hence why I took a second thunder fire cannon instead of another rifleman dred)

I decided to squeeze Khan in in case the terminators get assaulted by something nasty or a tarpit unit, I would have hit and run. Also furious charge is handy for taking out land raiders if I need to. Not to mention deployment options are always a plus!

If I did drop khan for a bike captain, I could upgrade a thunderfire cannon to a second rifleman dred and put camo on the scouts. I am not sure what I like...

I was thinking the same, but if I took the second dred instead of the tfc, I would have to lose khan to make up the comp points. Any suggestions about that?

Another option that popped into my head. Dropping the attack bikes for a pair of hf/mm speeders and and using the 60 points (from the tfc) on some other goodies in the troop squads like more bodies and plasma guns. If my math is right I can afford two bikes and two melta guns changing into plasma guns.

Alternatively, I could scratch the additional bikes and upgrade the speeders into typhoons for some long distance missile shots. In addition taking some combi-weapons on the five man squads. Combi-flamers anyone?

This gives me a bit more aggressive game play (command squad) and it is something I am more used too. I get a few more missile shots but lose an autocannon dred. I decided on combi-flamers on the small outflanking bike squads because it compliments their bolters and can dish out the pain on some infantry units if I need them too. Even though I am missing out on some hit and run terminators, the command squad does do it better then the terminators.

So many options, so little time. I really need to get some games in and see what I think of the army.

In the first the dread feels a bit isolated, can be hard to always get cover for it. Also likely to get focused on a lot and get stun locked at the very least.

The second with the terminators whilst shooting less is more reliable IMO.

That said 10 Tactical Terminators is even nicer. Becomes a big threat/deterrent in combat.

Never being keen on command squads, see them as just a big points sink but then you have always know I think that.

(C) 3rd Typhoon [90] + Combi Meltas on both small bike squad Sergs [10][10] OR Combi Melta on Power Fist Serg [10] + Heavy Bolter/Missile Launcher on Scouts [10] = [110]

Think with any of those the list will work a lot better. Basically decide if you want (A) a more Anti-Horde and be able to Bolster a second ruin (always handy). (B) Some extra Anti-Tank that can be used as a suicide unit without risking your troops. Or (C) do you want even more versatility in the army with the 2rd Typhoon???

Thanks for the advice Neil. You are right, the dred does stick out like a sore thumb sadly. I think I need at least two to make it worth while, but with the way the comp system works out, duplicate units kills my score like no other and If I did that, in a addition to khan I'd be under the comp threshold. So I am probably going to drop him.

Moving on! Your suggestions. Bike sergeants can only have either a fist or a combi weapon just FYI

Secondly, The speeder option and the Thunderfire option are both out because I am now below the comp threshold for taking duplicate units.

Third, if I go with the attack bike option then I knock myself below the comp threshold because I don't have 2 HQ, 2 Elites, and 2 Heavies, so that is a no go.

Yes it is a very rough comp set up and rewards certain armies *cough* Eldar *cough* Grey Knights *cough*

Some options:

Drop Khan for a bike captain. It physically frees up 40 points and gives me some room for comp

If I do this, I could double up on certain units.

Drop the Speeders. Personally, I love speeders of the typhoon variety, but with this comp system, if I spam them, 3 squads of 2, (which is why they work) then I am at 20 comp points which is below the threshold. I could take five speeders, 2 squads of 2 and a squad of one then I am just above the comp limit, but then Khan would have to bite it.

If I drop them completely that frees up 140 points (I am using your list for this) plus the 110 to give me a solid 250 points to work with and some freed up comp. If my math is correct, that is a unit of 2 multi-melta attack bikes and a 5 man missile dev squad (to compensate for the lack of missiles) and I would actually have a lot higher comp score then I do now (as there are no duplications). This can be exchanged for other stuff as their are so many options to choose from.

So what it ultimately boils down two are three things. 1) Do I want Khan? 2) Do I want speeders? 3) I should probably just can this entire terminator idea and start fresh. Currently I am leaning towards the third option and seeing what I can do with a new concept list.
